15 years of Raghava Lawrence's Muni: Interesting facts about the film

Muni is a horror action comedy , written and directed by Raghava Lawrence. The film has Lawrence, Vedhika, Rajkiran, Vinu Chakravarthy, Kovai Sarala and Rahul Dev in the lead roles. While cinematography was by KV Guhan, editing was by Suresh Urs.

The Muni series is directed by Raghava Lawrence and has the actor playing the lead in the film, became popular for its horror comedy. While Muni (2007) is the very first film in the series, it was followed by Muni 2: Kanchana (2011), Muni 3: Kanchana 2 (2015) and Muni 4: Kanchana 3 (2019). The film was dubbed into Hindi as Pratisodh: Ek Real Revenge and in Bhojpuri as Kab Hokhi Mukthi Hamar. The film was also dubbed in Telugu in the same name.

The film's original soundtrack was by composer Bharathwaj and had lyrics by P Vijay and Raghava Lawrence himself. The album comprised the songs Assah Pussah (Karthik, Priya), Suru Suru Susuravarthi (Anuradha Sriram & Ranjith), Gulla Gulla Dracula (Bharathwaj), Varranda Muni (Mukesh Mohamed), Thalai Suthuthey Mami (Bharathwaj, Kavitha and Raghava Lawrence). Background score for the film was by SP Venkatesh.

This was the first time that Raghava Lawrence and Vedhika teamed up for a film. The film's success spawned four sequels and continued the trend of horror comedy in Tamil cinema. In all the four films, Raghava played a timid person, who is petrified of ghosts and continued to play a similar character in the franchise.
