Actress Bhavana���s brother
Jayadev is turning director with
Pattinapakkam
, which has
Kalaiyarasan in the lead role. He has roped in
Chaya Singh to play the character of the female lead; however, the actress isn���t paired opposite Kalaiyarasan. Anaswara Kumar of Yaamirukka Bayamey fame plays Kalai���s pair.
Talking about the film, the director says, ���Though the title is Pattinapakkam, the film isn���t set in that locality. Chennai used to be referred to as Pattinapakkam in the olden days, and since the film is set against the backdrop of the city, I decided to use that as the title.���
The film has five storylines and 21 major characters, Jayadev reveals. The supporting cast includes Manoj K Jayan, Yog Japee, John Vijay, R Sundarrajan, MS Bhaskar and Madan Bob. ���Some of these characters find themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time, and their actions result in crime. Kalai plays an electrical engineering graduate who wants to make a quick buck. Chaya plays a housewife who ends up doing something bad,��� adds the filmmaker, who has studied filmmaking in Kannada and has worked as a co-director on Mysskin���s Mugamoodi.
