'A man of a golden heart' Vijayakanth to be cremated with state honors

Vijayakanth, the well-known Tamil actor and politician, passed away on December 28 due to COVID. To pay tribute to the legendary actor-politician's contribution to cinema and politics, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin has announced state honors.

Vijayakanth was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai on December 27, and the actor tested positive for COVID-19 later. But his health turned worse on December 28 morning, and the 71-year-old had his last breath. The hospital management then officially announced the demise of Vijayakanth, and his mortal remains were taken to his residence. After an hour of placement in his house, Vijayakanth's mortal remains were brought to the actor's party office in Koyambedu, Chennai, while fans and celebrities were allowed to pay their last respect. Considering the traffic situation in Koyambedu, Vijayakanth's mortal remains were then kept at Island Grounds, Chennai, for homage.



Vijayakanth's last journey will start after 1 PM today (Dec 29) from Island Grounds, and the actor is to be cremated in the DMDK party office around 4:45 PM. Vijayakanth will be cremated with state honors, as the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has announced the honor for the legendary actor. Meanwhile, fans have been gathering in large numbers to pay their last respects to their favorite actor. Rajinikanth, Vijay, Sathyaraj, Sarathkumar, Mansoor Ali Khan, Anand Raj, MS Bhaskar, Bhagyaraj, and several other cinema stars have paid their homage to Vijayakanth, and many turned emotional on seeing the actor's mortal remains.
