Ajith's 'Dheena' and Vijay's 'Kushi' join the list of May re-releases!

2024 is a special year for Tamil cinema and multiple films have been re-released in theatres and they have been performing well. Starting with '3', 'Baba' and now 'Ghilli' tops the race with the film making more than Rs 20 crore at the box office after re-releasing on April 20. The re-release culture has gained a major popularity in Tamil Nadu and following the list are now Ajith's 'Billa' and 'Mankatha'.

The makers of the two films earlier made the official announcement that the film will be re-released in theatres on May 1 marking Ajith's birthday. As the anticipation is high for the re-releases and as movies are running well in theatres amidst the new film releases, two more Tamil films are joining the list. Ajith's 'Dheena' and Vijay's 'Kushi' are two new additions to the re-release plan in Tamil Nadu.


Ajith's 'Dheena' was released in 2001 and the film was a commercial success. The movie played an important part in Ajith's acting career as it was only after that the actor got his name as 'Thala'. 'Dheena' was directed by AR Murugadoss and the film starred Ajith, Laila, and Suresh Gopi in lead roles.


Vijay's 'Kushi' was released in 2004 and it was an industrial hit. Directed by SJ Suryah, the film stars Jyothika as the female lead and the romantic drama is buzzed to be re-released in theatres again this May.
