Speculation has been rife for the last couple of years that Raghava Lawrence will be remaking his Muni 2:
Kanchana in Bollywood. And more recently, it was being reported that
Akshay Kumar would be stepping into the shoes of Lawrence, who played a strong man scared of ghosts. And now, we have it from a source associated with the project that the remake is indeed on, and that it will go on floors from April this year.
And yes, according to our source, “Though many in Bollywood had expressed interest in this remake, things have been finalised now. Lawrence will only direct the film, and not act in it. The rest of the cast, including that of the one who’d play Sarath Kumar’s role of a transgender, is yet to be finalised. Shooting will begin in Mumbai from April.”
Interestingly, Lawrence will begin work on Kaala Bhairava, too, in April.
The source adds, “He’ll juggle both the films from April. Work on the next film in the Muni franchise, Muni 4: Kanchana 3, is nearing completion.”
