The film’s producer, Kotapadi J Rajesh (KJR), shares that the makers had to invest ₹2 crores in creating an alien puppet, sourced from abroad to ensure realistic depiction. “We have managed to add emotions to the puppet through CG. We have preserved it in an ice box and will use it during the film’s promotions,” Rajesh says.

Quiz him about the delay in releasing the film, and Rajesh explains that the team faced several challenges, including visual effects and manpower issues during the pandemic. “The team has invested years in perfecting the VFX. Ayalaan has over 4,500+ VFX shots, making it the firstfull-length live-action film in Indian cinema to achieve this feat. Earlier, 2. 0 had used over 2,800 VFX shots while recently, Brahmastra had around 4,000+. However, the latter had a lot of effects that didn’t involve any live-action process or characters,” he elaborates.

Rajesh adds that the VFX has been done by the company that worked on Hollywood films like Avatar. Though there are speculations that Ayalaan might be similar to E. T. , Rajesh clarifies, “Ayalaan cannot be compared with E. T. The plot line is completely different. ”

While Rakul Preet Singh plays the female lead, Isha Gopikar will be seen playing the antagonist in this film. Sharad Kelkar and Yogi Babu, too, are part of the cast.

Rajesh reveals that the film is almost complete, with only AR Rahman’s rerecording remaining. He also shares that the script has scope for a potential sequel, which the team is keen on planning soon.
