Aishwaryaa and Dhanush’s love story started in 2003 when Aishwaryaa watched Dhanush’s movie ‘Kadhal Konden’ in the theatre when it was released. The actor was also present in the theatre then. Aishwaryaa, praising him for his acting, sent him flowers the next day. Dhanush then called Aishwaryaa to thank her and their love story began there. The couple in the interview stated that time had passed, and they did not even realise that they were falling in love with each other.

The actor had earlier stated that he likes Aishwaryaa for her simplicity. In an interview he stated that Aishwaryaa is “100 times simpler than her father Rajinikanth”. The marriage of Dhanush and Aishwarya was very grand and it happened in Chennai. Aishwaryaa and Dhanush were only 23 and 21 years old when they were married. While Aishwaryaa is the eldest daughter of actor Rajinikanth, Dhanush is the son of director Kasthuri Raja. After 18 years of marriage, both of them have decided to separate. In an interview with a media house, Aishwarya had told that her parents are very conservative and that is why her wedding with Dhanush happened in a hurry. She added that she was lucky and happy with my marriage. Dhanush and Aishwarya have two children - Yatra and Linga.

Aishwaryaa and Dhanush filed an identical statement on their social media announcing their separation. The couple got married in 2004 after being in a relationship.
The statement read that the couple needs separation to understand each other as individuals. Dhanush’s letter read, “18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, parents and well-wishers to each other. The journey has been of growth, understanding, adjusting, and adapting. Today we stand at a place where our paths separate. Aishwaryaa and I have decided to part ways as a couple and take time to understand us as individuals for the better.
