Tamil rural dramas have made a name for themselves over the years, but Sasikumar's 'Subramaniapuram' still stands as number one even after 15 years. The film stars Sasikumar, Jai, Swathi, and Ganja Karuppu, among others, in lead roles. The movie is an action film set in Madurai, and it is also a period film set in the 1980s. The film received a lot of positive response and even made a name for itself in the Hindi belt.
Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap, who is a huge fan of Sasikumar and the film, was inspired to make the movie 'Gangs of Wasseypur' in Hindi. With the movie 'Subramaniapuram' completing 15 years, Anurag Kashyap took to social media to congratulate the team. Sharing the movie poster, he wrote, "15 years to the film that inspired me so much that it led us to make Gangs of Wasseypur. Congratulations, Sasi Kumar and team."
Now, director Sasikumar, who was last seen in the film 'Ayodhi', has announced his directorial comeback after 13 years.
