Arun Pandian underwent angioplasty after testing positive for COVID-19, reveals daughter Keerthi Pandian

Actor and producer Arun Pandian had to undergo

angioplasty

to remove two

blocks

and had also tested positive for

COVID-19

, his daughter Keerthi Pandian has revealed on her social media page. Arun Pandian has now tested negative for COVID-19, and is in recovery after the surgery, she has added.

In the lengthy post, Keerthi writes that her dad had complained of "mild

chest pain

and discomfort in sleeping" one night and the family had taken him to a hospital in Tirunelveli. After staying overnight at the hospital, the actor had found out that he was COVID-positive. The family had decided to quarantine at home, but had medical professionals paying them a visit on the first seven days. "It was a very scary 15 days for our family as appa is diabetic. He had taken the first dose of the vaccination which might be the reason why it wasn't that severe for him," she wrote.

After testing negative, Arun Pandian had gone to Meenakshi Mission in Madurai for a complete heart check-up. While the tests indicated everything was fine, on the advice of the echocardiographer, he had taken an angiogram only to find out that he had two blocks that needed immediate attention. They decided to get angioplasty done on emergency basis the very next day. "Everything happened too quickly as he was just recovering from

COVID

but, Appa was so strong and more than ready to get the procedure done," wrote Keerthi.

"My superhero Appa is fine now and the road to recovery has been good," she added.

She thanked the hospital for taking care of her father and advised everyone to get regular health check-ups done for the elders in their family. She also urged everyone to "get vaccinated, wear mask and stay safe".
