Arun Vaidyanathan to direct a children’s movie next
Arun Vaidyanathan, who has made thrillers like Achchamundu! Achchamundu! and Nibunan in Tamil, will be directing a children’s film next. “I’ve been thinking of doing a film for kids for some time... something that talks about the world of kids. If you see children’s movies made in Hollywood, like Home Alone or Baby’s Day Out, they are films that even adults can enjoy.

This film, too, is aimed at the child in each and every one of us,” says the filmmaker.
He continues, “We have been in lockdown for more than a year. At least we, adults, have had opportunities to go out or do some activities, but the kids have largely been confined to their homes during this time. As a parent myself, I thought I should make a movie for them in my own language. This will be a film solely about kids. You will not have any romantic tracks or any adult-related stuff.”
The story revolves around four kids. “Anbukkor panjamillai is the theme of the film. It will be a humorous movie with a little bit of drama,” he says and adds that he has finalised the kids who will be playing the lead roles. “I do not want to reveal their names now, but except one child, the other three have acted in films or done TV shows. I am now training them for their roles. They are very good and are pretty excited,” he says.
In addition to the kids, a few well-known actors will be part of the cast, Arun informs. He also says that the crew will be a mix of new technicians and people he has worked with earlier. The film is set in Chennai and the filmmaker is scouting for locations in and around the city. “We are planning to start the shoot by September. We hope to complete shooting in a couple of schedules,” he says.
