Ashok Selvan opens up on gaining huge weight for 'Theeni'

He said, "This film is so close to my heart, and made with lots of love and effort. Although little prosthetics been used, I had put on 103 kgs for this film and almost died reducing it. It is a very special film and needs all your love and support. More than anything it’s my uyirnanban Ani Sasi's directorial debut. And I got to work with powerhouse talents like Nithya Menen Ritu Varma Divakar Mani, Nasser and Rajesh Murugesan.
In an earlier interview with us, he had said, "I play a chef in the film, who has to weight 100 kgs. There is a significance to my weight and the storyline. I have put on 20 kgs for the role now. There will be some amount of prosthetics, too. It feels very different and I am having fun putting on weight for a role." On working with Ani, he said, "Ani and I did a short film titled Maya, which even got an international recognition. He is also the writer of 'Marakkar'. We were discussing this film for some time now and we are happy shooting for it now. This will be my Telugu debut and I am really kicked about it."

For the film, Ashok has gained a lot of weight.
