, who was in the news recently regarding the 'Sarkar' story controversy has resigned his post as the president of the South Indian Film Writers Association.

After writer and assistant director Varun Rajendran filed a complaint against director

AR Murugadoss

for plagiarism, the South Indian Film Writers Association had ruled that the story of 'Sarkar' is similar to Varun Rajendran's 'Sengol' script, that was registered with the Writer's Union in 2007. Looks like K Bhagyaraj, the president of the association has been under tremondous pressure following the controversy and has thus resigned his post.

He has also apologied to

Sun Pictures

for revealing the story line of 'Sarkar' directed by Murugadoss.

'Sarkar', produced by Sun Pictures, has Vijay, Keerthy Suresh, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Radha Ravi and Pala Karupaiah in important roles and the film set to hit screen on November 6 for Diwali. A lot of expectations are riding on the film as it marks the third collaboration between AR Murugadoss and Vijay, after 'Thuppakki' and 'Kaththi'.
