The movie will be made in Tamil and Malayalam
Biopics continue to be the flavour of the season across film industries. Movies on several noted personalities and landmark events are getting made in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam film industries. Joining the list is a bilingual

biopic

on

Uma Preman

, an

organ donor

and a social activist. The film will be directed by

Vigneswaran Vijayan

in Tamil and Malayalam.

A source says, “Kerala-born Uma Preman, who was married to a middle-aged man when she was in her late teens, shot to limelight after she donated her kidney to a total stranger. She started volunteering to serve the destitute and ill, and facilitated close to 2 lakh dialysis, over 20,000 heart surgeries and 100s of kidney transplants. She also works with tribal communities, helping them build low-cost houses. She was one of the women awarded by the president of the nation.”

A few years ago, Nilachoru, a biography on Uma, was also released. And now, Vigneswaran Vijayan, who last directed the film

Traffic Ramasamy

, is making a movie on her life. He says, “There is no greater philosophy than selfless love. Whenever people around her hurt her, Uma Preman replied back with love. I believe that this film will be inspirational for many.”
