Popular carnatic singer and Padma Shri recipient, Bombay Jayashri, is said to have suffered aneurysm, while she was on a tour in the UK. An aneurysm is the enlargement of an artery caused by weakness in the arterial wall. According to reports, she was found unconscious at a hotel in Liverpool and then rushed to the hospital.
The acclaimed singer has apparently undergone a surgery, which has been deemed successful according to reports. The singer is said to have undergone key hole surgery. Sources close to the singer said that she is responding to medication and is expected to improve.
It is believed that the singer will be flown to Chennai as soon as she recovers consciousness and her once her vital parameters are stable.
Bombay Jayashri is known for her melodic and meditative style of singing and has been awarded the Padma Shri. The Music Academy had announced recently that Bombay Jayashri will be conferred the Sangita Kalanidhi award.
