Caarthick Raju shoots a thriller with Raiza amidst the pandemic
Even as Caarthick Raju’s Tamil-Telugu bilingual Soorpanagai with Regina Cassandra’s is nearing completion, the director has finished work on his next venture. A product of the lockdown, we have exclusively learnt that the film is an emotional thriller that stars Raiza Wilson in the lead.
Talking about how the yet-to-be-titled Tamil-Telugu bilingual came about, Caarthick says, “Velraj sir (cinematographer), Dhilip Subbarayan (action choreographer), Sam CS (music composer), Sabu Joseph (editor) and I were getting bored at home. So, we formed a team and decided to do something creative. We sought permission to shoot with a limited crew and got the required go-ahead. Rajsekhar Varma, who backed my Soorpanagai, is producing this one as well.”
The project was completed in 18 days. “We didn’t use track or trolley, and filmed with just a helicam. We shot at Sirumalai in Dindigul district, a small village on the foothills of a forest. It’s a corona-free village and there are hardly 500 residents there. All the 28 people who were part of the shoot, including the cast and the crew, did a COVID-19 test before and after the shoot. We had taken all the precautions and shot with complete care,” he informs, adding, “We are done with the editing, and dubbing work will mostly begin today.”
Caarthick continues, “The film’s about a mother, her daughter and a teenager, and will tug at your heartstrings.
