A source in the know says, "The Muktha brothers were born in Papanasam, and came to Chennai in the 1940s. Muktha Ramaswamy joined Modern Theatres as a typist. At that time period, the company was producing Burma Rani, and because the hero didn't turn up on time, the film's producer and director TR Sundaram decided to act himself in the role. He got Ramaswamy to work as the screenplay writer. On Ramaswamy's request, he got Srinivasan to work with him as an assistant director. Their journey in the industry began and soon, the brothers had carved a niche as director and producer, and gave several hits, including

Thenmazhai

, Panithirai, Arunodhayam, Paritchaikku Neramachu, Ninaivil Nindraval,

Bommalattam

, Avan Aval Adhu, Simla Special and Iru Medhaigal. Their family continues to run the production house, and is set to release Sri Vedantha Desikar next year. To celebrate the production house's 60 years, a grand function has been organised on December 22 in the city, which will be attended by most of the stars who have worked with the Muktha Brothers."
