Cheran says money-minded people curtailed the success of Rajavukku Check

Actor-director Cheran was in the news recently when he said cops and public should come together for the welfare of society after the infamous and brutal Sathankulam case. He has now said that money-minded people have always spoiled movie industry and that his intention is to take good films to people. This was in reaction to someone who posted on Twitter that she liked the Autograph filmmaker’s last outing, Rajavukku Check. In her tweet, she said that such films would be made in the industry only if it attains commercial success at the box office apart from the critical acclaim it receives. She compared the film with Mysskin’s Psycho as she felt both of them had touched upon a similar topic. According to her opinion, the Cheran-starrer, directed by Rajkumar, was better than Psycho in terms of the way the subject was dealt.

She posted, “விமர்சன ரீதியாக பாராட்டப்பட்ட ஒரு திரைப்படம் வணிக ரீதியாகவும் வெற்றிகரமாக இருந்தால், அது சினிமா படைப்பாளர்களுக்கு #RajavukkuCheck போன்ற தரமான கதைகளை உருவாக்க வழி வகுக்கும் இனிமேலாவது திருந்துவோம்.”

Cheran replied that the failure of the movie can’t be attributed to the audience and that the sole responsibility lies with those who approach movies only to make money. He also added that the time is not far when good movies will reach people directly without any unnecessary indulgence from others.

He posted, “நன்றி..மக்களிடம் தவறில்லை.. நல்ல படைப்புகள் மக்களை சென்றடையாமல் பணத்திற்காக சிலர் செய்யும் நாசவேலை இது. அதை உடைக்கத்தான் மீண்டும் மீண்டும் போராடுகிறோம்..மக்களுக்கு நேரடியாக நல்ல படங்கள் சென்றடையும் காலம் மிக அருகில்.”
