today. He was 99. His cremation will be held at his village in Madurai.


Velraj began his career by assisting cinematographer Tirru in Magalir Mattum (1994). He then went on to work in films like Parattai Engira Azhagu Sundaram, Polladhavan, Kandahar, Aadukalam,Siruthai, Ethir Neechal, Komban and Power Paandi. He made his directorial debut with Dhanush’s

Velaiyilla Pattadhari

which went on to become a huge hit. He also directed Dhanush’s Thanga Magan. He had recently become part of Indian Society of Cinematography.
