Complaint lodged against Tamil producer KE Gnanavel Raja for the attempted suicide of his maid

A complaint has been filed against producer KE Gnanavel Raja by the daughter of his maid, citing that he falsely accused her mother of theft, leading to her attempted suicide. According to a report by The Indian Express, the police have registered a case against KE Gnanavel Raja based on the accusation from Lakshmi's (maid) daughter and are currently investigating the matter.

KE Gnanavel Raja had recently accused his maid Lakshmi of theft, after his wife Neha’s gold jewellery went missing from the residence in T Nagar, Chennai. The producer filed a complaint with the Mambalam police against his housemaid, Lakshmi, suspecting her involvement in the theft.

During police interrogation, Lakshmi denied any wrongdoing, stating that she had not taken the missing jewelry. Despite her denial, the police have requested Lakshmi to make herself available for further questioning as needed. Distraught by the accusations leveled against her, Lakshmi attempted to take her own life by consuming grounded Arali seeds. Fortunately, bystanders intervened in time to save her, and she was subsequently admitted to Chennai Royapettah Government Hospital for treatment.

The police is now looking into the case filed by Lakshmi’s daughter against producer KE Gnanavel Raja.
