Director Thamizh, who made the critically acclaimed Sethumaan, is all set to begin the shoot of his next film, which will star Darshana Rajendran of Hridayam fame and Darshan in the lead roles. While his first film was based on two short stories of Perumal Murugan, this will be based on a novel by the noted Tamil writer. “I was greatly impacted by his novel, Pookuzhi, and have adapted its plot in my own way. In addition to the story, he has also written the dialogues for this film,” informs Thamizh.

The film, he says, revolves around lovers from different communities who get married and the events that follow. The story happens in Bangalore and in Dharmapuri.

Tamizh reveals that he wanted a strong performer for the female lead’s role, and approached Darshana. “She read both the novel and the script before agreeing to come on board,” he informs. Darshan will play her romantic interest.

Deepak, the director of the 2022-film Witness, will be the cinematographer of this film, which will have Bindhumalini and Vedanth Bharadwaj, who had composed the music for Aruvi, as the composers. Antony Ruban, who was part of the Oscar-winning The Elephant Whisperers, will be in charge of the sound design.
