Rachna's claim to fame is the hotnumber Deedar De... from Dus. She later did some raunchy music videos forHimesh Reshammiah and Rahul Sharma. Who can forget that racy video Desi SodaWhisky... which made her Mumbai's hottest item girl? Later, in aninterview, she said that she didn't want to expose so much, butunfortunately during shooting there was a 'wardrobe malfunction'!When Bollywood found her 'too hot to handle', southcinema adopted her to do those sizzling item numbers. She danced with Upendra inUppi Dada in Kannada, with Mohanlal in Chotta Mumbai in Malayalam, and withDhanush in Yaaradi Nee Mohini in Tamil. But it was the television promo song OSexy Mamma... with Madhavan for Yaavarum Nalam and its Hindi version 13 B thatgave her the big break in the south. Since then, she has gone on to do many itemnumbers.Now, she has done nearly 20 plus movies in south Indianlanguages and is the hottest item girl in the circuit. Talking to TOI a peevedRachna says, 'For God's sake, don't call me an item girl. Ithink the word item sounds weird. I would say it is special appearance, asI'm part of the film and definitely its highlight. I'm taking myprofession as seriously as any other actress. Even Hrithik Roshan and SRK didspecial appearance songs; would you call them item boys?'Rachna says she loves looking glamorous on screen. Says Rachna,'I would like to look very glamorous on screen but not cheap. I'mparticular about what I wear; it has to give me the glam look. I don'tfeel apologetic about appearing in just one song in a movie. In Drohi, that hasbeen directed by Sudha K Prasad, I'm told that my song with Srikanth andVishnu is being liked by the audiences.' Rachna says she will continueworking in south films as they are far more professional and as payment is good.Meanwhile, she continues to be hot on the music video circuit and she also doesstage shows.
