'Etharkkum Thunindhavan' to 'Valimai': Tamil big-ticket releases and their expected release dates

Due to the spike of covid-19 and omicron cases, the Tamil Nadu government has imposed several restrictions in the state. Also, several Tamil movies have postponed their release dates considering the pandemic situation. The state government has recently lifted the night curfew and Sunday lockdown from today January 28th, and this made the filmmakers aim for a release. Though the 50% occupancy in theaters continues to avoid mass gatherings in cinemas, a few big-ticket releases. Let’s take a look at five Tamil biggies and their expected release dates.

Vishal starrer was initially planned to release on January 26th, but the makers avoided the release considering the pandemic situation. Now, 'Veeramae Vaagai Soodum' will be the first Tamil big release of 2022, and the film is planned to release next Friday, February 4th. 'Veeramae Vaagai Soodum' is locked to release simultaneously with the Telugu version, and Vishal is set to rock fans with the action drama.

The original February 4 release, 'Etharrkum Thunindhavan' will be now released a week later on February 11th due to the rescheduling of a few postponed films. But the film is a Pan Indian release for sure, and it will be Suriya's first film to release in five languages in theaters. 'Etharrkum Thunindhavan', which is directed by Panidraj, also features several popular faces, and the film has music scored by D Imman.

The much-awaited Ajith's 'Valimai' was planned as a Pongal release, but the makers stepped back from their decision considering the increase in covid cases. As the condition looks returning normal, and few big releases lined up, Ajith's 'Valimai' is expected to be released in the first week of March on the 5th. The film will be released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi, and we have to wait to hear from the makers regarding added Kannada and Malayalam versions.

Sivakarthikeyan's romantic comedy 'Don', which is directed by debutant Cibi Chakravarthy' was initially planned to release on the occasion of Valentine's day. But now the film is expected to be released at the end of March 2022, probably on the 25th. This will be a perfect date for Sivakarthikeyan as several big releases have been planned to release in April.

Arun Vijay starrer 'Yaanai' has a huge expectation among the fans as the stylish actor joined hands with his niece and director Hari for the first time. Arun Vijay will be seen in a rural avatar after a long time in 'Yaanai', and the film is expected to be released on March 25th simultaneously with the Telugu version 'Enugu'.
