FEFSI President RK Selvamani speaks out on industry conflicts amid Dhanush controversy

FEFSI President R.K. Selvamani recently addressed the media, expressing concerns over internal conflicts within the South Indian Film Employees Federation. Speaking on Sunday (Mar 30), he pointed out that producers lack unity, and some are attempting to dissolve FEFSI to form a new organization. He strongly opposed this move, asserting that they would not support any efforts to dismantle FEFSI, which has long been a backbone for film industry workers. His statement has sparked discussions within the industry, bringing attention to the ongoing tensions among various stakeholders.

Five Star Creations’ Kalaiselvi accuses Dhanush of breach of commitment

Following this, Five Star Creations’ shareholder Kalaiselvi released a statement yesterday, raising serious concerns regarding actor Dhanush and his production company. She alleged that despite receiving an advance payment from their company, Dhanush had not provided the committed shooting schedule. In her statement, she directly questioned Selvamani’s role in the matter. She accused him of interfering in their negotiations, claiming that instead of ensuring justice for producers like her, he had prioritized DAWN Pictures’ film 'Idly Kadai'. According to her, Selvamani allegedly justified this by saying that 'Idly Kadai' had to proceed due to higher authority directives.

This controversy has further escalated discussions about power struggles within the industry. After Kalaiselvi’s statement, RK Selvamani spoke at an event, expressing deep emotional distress over the entire issue. He revealed that, at 60 years of age, March 30 had been one of the most painful days of his life. He compared his feelings to the anguish of standing against his own parents, emphasizing his commitment to the Producers’ Council. He also asserted that no past or present administrators had contributed as much to the association as he had. His remarks indicate the gravity of the situation and the challenges faced by FEFSI amidst these internal disputes.
