At a time when actresses in Kollywood are hesitant about dubbing for their parts, here is a French girl from Pondicherry who has no qualms dubbing for her Tamil lines. In fact, actress
Andreanne
also knows how to read and write Tamil. I have been living in Pondicherry for the past 20 years and it would be shame if I didnt know Tamil after living here for so many years, shares Andreanne, who has dubbed her lines for the movie,
Melnaatu Marumagan
, which has
Rajkamal playing the lead.
The director (MSS) was very clear that I should dub my own lines. I am quite fluent in Tamil, and can read my lines with ease. The difficulty kicks in because I pronounce words with an accent and this is something I consciously have to sort of, undo, for movie dialogues. But thankfully, I have been playing a foreigner in most of the movies, so the accent only adds to the authenticity of the character. I will have to work a lot harder if I have to play a Brahmin girl, or a girl with, say, a Madurai slang, smiles Andreanne, who has previously dubbed for movies like Enakkul Oruvan and Rajini Murugan. She has also dubbed for her lines for the upcoming film,
Veera Sivaji
, that has
Vikram Prabhu playing the lead.
