Tamil actor Gautham Ram Karthik has made a frank admission of one of the biggest blunders of his career while promoting his new movie, ‘Mr. X.’ The actor recently opened up in an interview about his past decisions and stated that “Muthuramalingam” is a particular project he regrets. His candid statements have now caught the attention of fans, especially as he prepares for the release of his new project.
Gautham Ram Karthik regrets acting in ‘Muthuramalingam’
Talking openly with Cinema Vikatan, Gautham Ram Karthik said, “Muthuramalingam is a film I regret. It was my mistake. At that time, I didn’t have enough understanding.” He added that the film turned out to be one of the failures in his career and taught him important lessons. The actor explained that he made some wrong choices early on, but those experiences helped him grow. “I may have made a few wrong decisions, but I learned from them and shaped my journey,” he said to emphasize what he described as a “selective alter personality” towards picking scripts after a few disappointments.
GRK reveals shift in film choices after setback and cautious approach to mass roles
After the setback, Gautham revealed he purposely never watched these kinds of movies; he wanted to try something new and have a balanced career. However, he later returned to the commercial space with 'Devarattam,' directed by Muthaiya. “I decided that if I do such films again, it should be with the right director,” he explained. The film helped him connect with B and C centre audiences, but the actor admitted that he still approaches such roles carefully.
Gautham Ram Karthik prefers realistic and unique scripts despite the fear of mass entertainers
Even today, Gautham says he is not fully comfortable doing regular mass entertainers. “I still have fear when it comes to mass films. I see myself as an actor, not someone who can constantly do mass masala films,” he shared. He added that he prefers scripts that feel real or completely unique, including fantasy-based stories. As 'Mr X' has hit big screens today (April 17), Gautham Ram Karthik seems focused on making better choices and building a strong identity with meaningful and different roles in the industry.Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the
