Harish Kalyan will be back to the screens to play an endearing boy next door, and this time in the Tamil remake of Vijay Deverakonda’s hit Telugu film Pelli Choopulu. Directed by debutant
Kaarthikk
Sundar, a former associate of director AL Vijay, the film began rolling on Wednesday. The remake will feature Priya Bhavanishankar reprise the role of Ritu Varma from the original.
Kaarthikk tells us that the remake will be adapted to inculcate Tamil sensibilities. “The Telugu and Tamil cultures are pretty much similar. So, there were not many major changes. But lingo wise, we have added a few elements here and there. The original had a sense of rootedness to it. We have retained that by adding by tweaking the way people talk,” he explains, going on to add that the realism of the original was what drew him to the script.
“The film had absolute realism. Nothing was staged. Every character felt so real. That is what interested me the most. Harish would fit the bill of the character because that is how he is naturally. I loved the writing of the original,” he says. The Tamil remake, which will be set against the backdrop of urban Chennai, will be shot across the city in a single schedule of 30 days. “We are trying to go to live locations to get the real feel,” the director adds.
