Deccan Chronicle now reported that the film has been delayed in production as the script required a small tweak and that the work for it will resume soon. Other media reports also suggested that the movie's budget has been increased and it will be as expensive as 'KGF 2' as the makers have planned to craft it on a huge scale. It will also be one of the most expensive films in Nayanthara's career.

'Toxic' is a period drama and the film's story revolves around a drug cartel that operates from Goa. The movie has the tagline 'A fairy tale for grown-ups' and the makers initially had plans to cast Kareena Kapoor Khan as the female lead before they approached Nayanthara and reports states that the Bollywood actress decided to walk out with the lady superstar being part of the cast. The movie will also star Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Shruti Haasan among others in pivotal roles. The title teaser has already been launched and more updates are awaited.

On the work front, Yash has 'Ramayana' directed by Nitesh Tiwari. He is said to play Raavan in the Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi starrer. Meanwhile, Nayanthara is awaiting the release of her films 'Test' and 'Manangatti Since 1960' in Tamil and she has also signed up for a new film with Vishnu Edavan starring Kavin and the Malayalam film 'The Good Student' starring Nivin Pauly.
