Director Vignesh Karthick is working on a sequel to his anthology film Hot Spot. The director says the sequel will be “quirky, wacky, hard-hitting, and emotional”, and adds that it will also follow the anthology format.
Vignesh, who acted in the first part, will star in this one as well, with Brigida Saga playing the character of his wife. “The first part had four stories, but it was supposed to be a series with eight episodes. When the film did well, we wanted to make a sequel since we already had stories in the bank,” he says, adding, “I’m a Black Mirror fan and wanted to make something similar in Tamil.”
The director says that while there have been many good small films, the problem is that people didn’t really go to theatres to watch them. “Byri and Oru Nodi were good films, but people started talking about them only after their OTT release,” he says.
