PL Thenappan, who is planning to sue the makers of Parasite, with the help of an international lawyer, says that he had obtained the rights of all films bankrolled by late
KR Gangadharan
, including the Vijay-starrer
Minsara Kanna
. He also adds that the story writer of the movie, the late
MA Kennady
, had sold the rights to Gangadharan long ago. Thenappan says, “I currently own the rights of more than 20 Tamil films which were produced by Gangadharan while a Kochi-based producer owns the rights of Malayalm movies he has produced.”
The Peranbu producer avers that it is second time that he has been cheated of story theft. “My film Kadhala Kadhala, which featured Kamal Haasan and Prabhudeva, was remade into Hindi as Housefull more than 10 years later under the direction of Sajid Khan. I had filed a case back then and the issue is still pending in court. Anyway, this time, I have approached another lawyer, a close friend of mine, through whom I will finalise the international lawyer for the case,” he explains.
