“The film is a murder mystery that happens in a village near Tanjore. How Dany the dog helps the investigating officer, played by Varalaxmi, in cracking the case forms the plot. The tone will not be that of a serious crime film, but like that of commercial films,” says the director, adding that characters speaking in the Tanjore slang will be one of it highlights.

He calls Varalaxmi “a rare kind of artiste”. “She is a committed performer, having qualities that the likes of Sujatha, Saritha, Radikaa and Jyotika have. She also has the skill of a director, so she adapts herself beautifully to the character. I’d say she is a single-take artiste,” he praises.

The actress, he informs, would turn up for the shoot a couple of hours earlier to be with the dog and bond with it.
Vela Ramamoorthy, Vinoth Kishan, Anitha Sampath, Durai Sudhakar, Ramar and Bala of Kalakka Povathu Yaaru fame are playing supporting roles in this film, which will have two music composers — Santhosh Dhayanidhi and Sai Bhaskar. “There are three songs, with one from the point of view of the dog. While Santhosh has composed one song, Sai Bhaskar has done the other two songs and the background score,” says the director.
