Jiivi’s writer makes his directorial debut

Babu Tamizh, the writer of Jiivi, will be making his debut as a director with Ikk. The film stars Guru Somasundaram and newbie Yogesh in the lead.

Talking about the film, Babu says, “This is a psychological fantasy — its story revolves around a football player’s life, but this is not a sports film. The film delves into the personal space, twists and turns the protagonist goes through. Yogesh, a newcomer, plays the lead. Guru Somasundaram plays another lead in the film. I can’t divulge too many details about his role as it might give away the suspense. The narration is such that audience will keep guessing who the protagonist and antagonist are.”

The team is currently on the lookout for a heroine. “Yogesh, Guru and the heroine essay three pivotal characters in the project and all of them have equal importance in the story. We have started auditioning for the female lead,” says the director, who is likely to begin the shooting from September 30. Debutant Gavaskar Avinash will score music for Ikk.
