Jyotika and Suriya are one of the most celebrated couples in the South film industry. The duo has been together for the past 18 years. The actress recently shared what she likes most about her husband's films. She also added that his choices of films are such that they never demean female characters and it is one of the things that attracted her towards him.
While promoting her recent release, ‘Shaitaan’ starring Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan, Jyotika was asked about her most likable things about Suriya’s choice of films. While addressing this, Jyotika told Galatta India that Suriya picks good stories. He never became part of a movie as an adding element to it. She is proud of her Husband actor that every film he does has a good part for the woman (actress). He won't give her the backspace but keeps her in the forefront.
Jyotika took ‘Jai Bhim’ as an example and clarified that the film gives more space to Lijomol Jose’s character and she owns the film. According to Jo, Suriya was just padding it up for the script in which his character believes in the importance of education. She found this a commendable job and pointed out one of the reasons for her falling in love with him.
Meanwhile, Jyotika did not do films for a long time after her marriage with Suriya. In 2015, she made a comeback with a Tamil film ‘36 Vayadhinile’ which was a remake of the Malayalam film ‘How Old Are You’. In 2023, she shared the screen with superstar Mammootty in ‘Kaathal The Core’. ‘Shaitaan’ marks her third project after a hiatus.
Surya and Jyotika made their debut together in the 1999 film ‘Poovellam Kettupar’. After getting married in 2006, they welcomed two kids, Diya in 2007 and Dev in 2010. The duo has done many movies together including, ‘Perazhagan’, ‘Mayavi’, ‘Kakka Kakka’, and ‘Chillunu Oru Kadhal’.
