KV Anand to Pandu: Tamil cinema stars who succumbed to COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has attacked the lives of many, and the virus still continues its havoc globally. Now, the second wave is even more dangerous, adding the surge in the number of positive cases. Kollywood has also lost a few of its famous stars because of the deadly disease. Let's pay a tribute to those Tamil stars who had lost their battles against COVID-19.

Florent Pereria

Late Florent C Pereria, a veteran journalist and film actor who had been receiving treatment for a corona infection., didn't respond well and breathed his last in September 2020. He had also worked in the media for many years. Florent C Pereria was known for his role in the romantic drama 'Kayal', which was directed by Prabhu Solomon.

Swaminathan

Lakshmi Movie Makers is one of the leading production companies in the Tamil film industry, and it was operated by K. Muralitharan, V. Swaminathan, and G. Venugopal. V. Swaminathan was diagnosed with COVID-19 in August 2020, and he was subsequently admitted to a private hospital for treatment. However, he passed away the very next day (August 10), and his demise shocked his family and friends. Notable Tamil actor late Ashwin was the son of V Swaminathan, and he was famous for his role in the film 'Kumki'.

Thamira

'Aan Devathai' fame director Thamira was diagnosed with COVID-19, and the late director was treated in a private hospital in Chennai. After several days of battling against the pandemic disease, Thamira, unfortunately, passed away on April 27 morning. Shankar, Ramya Pandian, Aari Arjunan, and several other celebrities mourned over the demise of the talented director.

KV Anand

Cinematographer turned director KV Anand suffered chest pain around 1 AM on April 30 and he drove his car and got admitted to a private hospital in Chennai. But the 54-year-old passed away around 3 AM after suffering a heart attack. Then it was reported that KV Anand had COVID complications, and his mortal remains were sent to the crematorium directly.

Comagan

Comagan, who is born visually impaired, was famous for signing the inspirational song 'Ovvoru Pookalumae' in the romantic drama 'Autograph'. He had also shared screen space with actor Vijay in the actor's 50th film 'Sura'. Comagan was diagnosed with COVID-19 a few weeks ago and passed away on May 6, 2021.

Pandu

Actor Pandu had played several supporting roles in Tamil films, and he shared screen space with actors Vijay, Ajith, Prabhudeva, and others. Pandu and his wife Kumuda were infected with COVID-19. Pandu's life was cut short by the effect of treatment on May 6, 2021, while his wife is constantly being monitored by doctors.
