Lokesh Kanagraj clears the air about 'Kaithi 2' ; Will be his next after his film with Allu Arjun
Director Lokesh Kanagraj addressed fans' curiosity about his future endeavors, confirming that 'Kaithi 2', 'Vikram 2', and 'Rolex' remain part of his ambitious slate following the eagerly awaited project with Allu Arjun. He candidly explained that a planned collaboration featuring Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth didn't come together, ultimately facilitating the Allu Arjun film.
Lokesh Kanagraj has been one of the most prolific directors of Tamil Cinema in the past few years, he has delivered films like 'Master', 'Leo', 'Vikram', 'Coolie' and 'Kaithi'. He is now slated to direct Allu Arjun in his untitled next which should be going on floors in the second half of 2026. As he moved from Tamil cinema to telugu cinema to work with Allu Arjun, the chatter began to do the rounds that he is letting go of his roots in Tamil to work on more Pan-India spectacles and in the process he is also letting go of LCU ( Lokesh Cinematic Universe). But the maverick directors at his press conference today opened up about a lot of topic, the biggest one was Kaithi sequel- the film that got the LCU started. It was rumoured that he had asked for a huge a pay check for the film which was not met and hence he decided to move on from the film. Byt at the press conference he stated that after he's done with his film with Allu Arjun, he will return to direct 'Kaithi 2.' He also promised that 'Vikram 2' and 'Rolex' (based on Suriya's character in 'Vikram') are his commitments and he will complete them.

He also shared that timeline of how the Allu Arjun film happened. He mentioned that after Coolie, it wwas gearing up for 'Kaithi 2' but after' Coolie' both Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth asked him to work on a script where both of them can come together. He couldn't let go of the opportunity and after taking permission from te makers of 'Kaithi' he began working on the script for the two superstars. He worked on the script for a month and half but things couldn't work out as the superstars wanted a light hearted film.In the meantime Karthi gave his 'Kaithi' dates to another director and since he was always in touch with Allu Arjun for a film- things just got ironed out.
