Actor Kamal Haasan's 'Guna' which was released in 1991 is a cult-classic and the film garnered much attention this year after the release of the Malayalam film 'Manjummel Boys'. The movie was shot in Guna caves which became much famous after the Kamal Haasan was shot there and the Malayalam film made it nostalgic for all and the netizens since then ahve been looking forward for the release of 'Guna'.
However in March, the film was banned from re-release due to uncertain issues and the Madras High Court has now lifted the intering ban and have granted permission for the re-release in theates. Directed by Santhana Bharathi, the 1991 film featured Kamal Haasan and Rohini and lead roles and the film is a psychological romantic drama.
The film in 1991 clashed at the box office with Rajinikanth's 'Thalapathi' on Diwali and amidst the competition it managed to get critically acclaimed for its experimental nature of the film. The movie marks one of the exceptional performances of Kamal Haasan and the film attained a cult status in Tamil Cinema which inspired more filmmakers to create such films later.
