Ever since it was announced that actor Vikram’s son, Dhruv, would be making his debut with

director Bala

’s

Varma

, the Tamil remake of Arjun Reddy, there has been speculation over who would be cast as his pair. The original, which saw Vijay Devarakonda play the titular role, had Shalini Pandey as his love interest. While there were rumours that Shriya Sharma, who has acted in a few Telugu films, has been roped in to play the female lead, now, it has been confirmed that the team has signed on Bengali girl

Megha

for the role.

Megha, who has acted in the Bengali movie Amar Prem, has also been part of a couple of films in Tollywood (like Ooranthaa Anukuntunnaru), and Varma will mark her debut in the Tamil film industry.

A source from the film’s unit tells us that director Bala chose the actress, who lives in Mumbai, mainly for her expressive eyes and also because she is a trained Kathak dancer. Megha has started shooting for the film and the director has shot for a couple of days with her. However, the source adds that she is yet to shoot scenes along with Dhruv.
