’, Vijay Sethupathi is gearing up for the release of his next production ‘
Merku Thodarchi Malai
’. On Wednesday, the makers unveiled the theatrical trailer of the film, which seems to be a promising drama.
Going by the trailer, ‘Merku Thodarchi Malai’ appears like an intense drama that highlights the issues faced by daily-wage labourers and how important a piece of land is for them. Apart from the beautiful visuals, the trailer’s major strength is the background score by maestro Ilaiyaraaja.
Directed by debutant Lenin Bharathi, the film mostly stars newcomers Anthony Pangy, Gayathri, Aaru Bala and Thamarai in the lead roles. Lenin Bharathi is known for writing the screenplays of films like ‘Aadhalal Kadhal Sei’ and ‘Azhagarsamiyin Kuthirai’. It must be noted that the film has been screened at several international film festivals ahead of its release.
Reported to be an intense drama with some realistic moments, the film is all set for a release on August 24. ‘Merku Thodarchi Malai’ will clash with films like ‘
Echarikkai
’ and ‘
Lakshmi’, which are slated to release on the same date.
