MS Bhaskar sir has done action in my film about a grandfather: Prankstar Rahul

Actor and popular YouTuber Prankstar Rahul is playing the lead in Grandfather, which will also be his first directorial. The film’s cast comprises veteran actor MS Bhaskar, who plays a crucial role; Smeha Manimegalai as the female lead, and established artistes Aruldoss (Kill Bill Pandey) and Sunil (Justin), who play the antagonists.

Rahul, who is Bhaskar’s grandson in the film, tells us, “Lots of people are making movies about lovers, parents and siblings. That’s when I thought, ‘Why not make a film about a grandfather?’” “When a YouTuber does a film for the first time, people expect it to have loveor action-related content. However, I wanted to make an action film with fantasy and horror elements,” he elaborates.

The first-time filmmaker, who has previously acted in films such as Bachelor and Prince , says Bhaskar never lets his experience weigh on younger artistes. “He wants everyone to do well and he also motivated me a lot. That helped me, as I was also nervous about whether the audience would be interested in watching a film with me as the hero,” he shares, adding, “Bhaskar sir has also done action in the film. It was new for him and he conveyed to me that he hasn’t ever done so much action in his career.”

That question from SK...Rahul had earlier revealed to us that AR Murugadoss, Lokesh Kanagaraj, Silambarasan TR, Sivakarthikeyan and Anirudh have all encouraged him in his journey toward becoming a filmmaker. He tells us that it was Sivakarthikeyan who first suggested him to direct. “Four years ago, after watching my prank videos, Sivakarthikeyan sir told me, ‘You perform comedy well. Why don’t you direct?’”
