Vijay-starrer Mersal’s producer and late producer Rama Narayanan’s son Murali Ramaswamy won the Tamil Film Producer’s Council (TFPC) elections held yesterday. The election was held at the MGR Janaki College and around 1050 members cast their votes to elect the council’s office bearers. Nearly 112 candidates contested for various posts. Last term’s president Vishal didn’t contest this time in the elections. Kamal Haasan, Kushboo, Santhanam, SJ Suryah and SVe Sekar were among those who voted yesterday.

Murali has said earlier that his team would address the issues of producers who are unable to release their movies. As the results are getting announced, wishes are pouring in on social media for Murali. After winning the elections, Murali has announced that he is clear that the virtual print fee will not be paid, he added that he would try to bring in the producers who have now formed

While RK Suresh and Kathiresan have been elected as vice-presidents of the Council, Chandra Prakash Jain is the treasurer. Radhakrishnan and Mannan are the secretaries of the TFPC. While RK Suresh, Chandraprakash Jain and Radhakrishnan belong to Murali's team, Mannan is from T Rajendar's team and Kathiresan contested as an independent candidate.
