‘Truly blessed’: Nayanthara reflects on winning Best Actress at the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards

Superstar Nayanthara has penned a heartfelt note reflecting on the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. She won the Best Actress award for the year 2017 for her performance in the film 'Aramm.' She essayed the role of a district collector in the film. On Tuesday, Nayanthara took to her social media handle and shared a note expressing gratitude and thanking the government for the honour.

Besides the Best Actress award, Nayanthara’s film ‘Netrikann’ won the 2021 Best Film About Women Empowerment (special prize award. ‘Koozhangal’, which she produced with her husband, Vignesh Sivan, also won the 2020 Best Film award.

In a note shared on Instagram, Nayanthara said, "My sincere gratitude to the Government of Tamil Nadu for honouring me with the State Award for Aramm. Also deeply thankful for the State Awards for Netrikann and Koozhangal for our production house @therowdypictures. Three State Awards for the house… Truly blessed."

Meanwhile, 'Aramm' is a gripping thriller directed by Gopi Nainar. The film revolves around the efforts of a district collector to rescue a child that falls into a borewell by accident. Nayanthara’s role of District Collector Mathivathani was well-received.

Nayanthara will be next seen in ‘Patriot’ starring Mammootty and Mohanlal. The film also has Fahadh Faasil and Kunchacko Boban in pivotal roles. The upcoming Malayalam film is helmed by acclaimed director Mahesh Narayanan. ‘Patriot’ is scheduled to hit screens worldwide on April 23 this year. The makers earlier dropped a teaser, which hinted that the film might be an espionage thriller. Fahadh Faasil recently revealed that he is playing the antagonist in the film.

On the other hand, Nayanthara also has ‘Toxic’ in the pipeline. She will be seen essaying the role of Ganga in the Yash starrer.
