Sivakarthikeyan is making headlines ever since its release. While the film has drawn criticism from several quarters, it has also won appreciation. The director has now revealed that Kamal Haasan called her after watching the film and appreciated it.
In an interview with Cineulugam, the director revealed that she got a call from legendary actor Kamal Haasan around midnight. “Kamal sir saw my film and spoke to me at midnight, around 12.45 pm. Sudha Kongara’s film ‘Parasakthi’ is a period drama, set against the backdrop of the anti-Hindi imposition protests in the 1960s in Tamil Nadu. The political drama follows two brothers who take part in the imposition movement. The film hit the theatres on January 10, 2026. Starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, the film also has Sreeleela, Ravi Mohan, and Atharvaa, along with Dev Ramnath, Prithvi Rajan, Guru Somasundaram, Basil Joseph, and Papri Ghosh in pivotal roles.
Kamal Haasan says ‘Parasakthi’ has a ‘powerful story’
In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on January 10, Kamal Haasan lauded the film and said it has a ‘powerful story’. “Before I began watching Parasakthi, I did not expect at all that this film would become the mighty war drum of the election our alliance is going to face. Yes, this film must succeed; this is not just my wish, but also my sincere blessing. This film is a victorious tilak etched into the history of the DMK," Kamal Haasan said.
"Overwhelmed by emotion, this note follows as an afterthought. My first appreciation goes to the biopic's powerful story, its director Sudha Kongara, and to my younger brother Sivakarthikeyan, who chose this story, worked tirelessly for it, and is set to achieve success through it," he added.
Kamal Haasan also went on to congratulate the cast and crew. "My heartfelt congratulations to Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa, Sreeleela, and all the actors who have become part of this cinematic history; to cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran, music composer G.V. Prakash, editor Sathish Suriya, all the technical artists, and everyone who worked on this film," he concluded.
