Ahead of the 'Thangalaan' release in theatres on August 15, the film's audio launch was held in Chennai yesterday and the entire cast was present to promote the film. Directed by Pa Ranjith, the movie stars Vikram, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Pasupathy and Malavika Mohanan in lead roles.
Ranjith, an acclaimed director in Indian cinema, has streamlined his way of filmmaking and actress Parvathy was vocal about her support for Pa Ranjith's brand of cinema. In a powerful speech, the actress said, "Cinema can be seen as entertainment or blockbuster material, but without a shred of doubt, whatever we do in life is political. There is nothing apolitical in this world."
Noting that the film is releasing on Independence Day, the actress pointed out that it is not just a mere coincidence and the movie stresses on words like freedom and oppression. The actress added that art is political and said that for director Ranjith it is like leading an army and she was happy to be his soldier.
'Thangalaan', based in KGF, is about the tribal people who were oppressed by the British under their rule and how they were exploited for resources. The film also stars Daniel Caltogarone in an important role and the music for it is composed by GV Prakash.
