Kamal Haasan paid his last respects to the
Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party president M
Karunanidhi, who passed away on Tuesday following multiple organ failures. He was 94. Kamal Haasan was seen along with the executive members of his political party Makkal Neethi Maiam.
According to reports, Kamal Haasan, who was in New Delhi promoting his upcoming ‘Vishwaroopam 2’, cancelled all his programs and rushed back to Chennai last night. Addressing the media earlier today, Haasan stated that he would miss M Karunanidhi both as an artist and a politician. The actor also took to Twitter to offer his condolences to the family and party members.
It’s worth mentioning that Kamal Haasan shared a very good rapport with M Karunanidhi. In many instances, Haasan has openly stated that Karunanidhi’s Tamil was one of his biggest inspirations. In fact, Karunanidhi presided over as the chief guest at the audio launch of Kamal Haasan’s ‘Dasavatharam’.
Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan’s much-awaited ‘Vishwaroopam 2’ is slated to release this Friday. However, an uncertainty now prevails over the release following the demise of M Karunanidhi. Many filmmakers have cancelled the shooting in order to pay respect to the Dravidian stalwart.
