The Tamil film 'Raayan' after its release in theatres on July 27 received a lot of acclaim. Directed by Dhanush, the revenge action drama is performing well in Tamil Nadu and Telangana, Andhra Pradesh. News reports emerged that the Kerala cybercrime police arrested Jeb Stephen Raj from Madurai after he was caught uploading the film illegally on a streaming website.

Reports revealed that the man is an admin of the Tamil Rockers website, that has been leaking movies online for years and it also noted that Stephen Raj shot the film in a theatre in Thiruvananthapuram.


The Kerala cybercrime police had been very cautious and alert after the Malayalam movie 'Guruvayurappan Ambalanadai' starring Prithviraj was out on the pirated website just a day after the film's release. The crime led to Stephen Raj and apart from these two films - 'Raayan' and 'Guruvayurappan Ambalanadai', he was also found to have copies of 'Maharaja' and 'Kalki 2898 AD'. Police reports revealed that the man tried to place his cell phone in the cup holder of his seat in the theatre and recorded the entire movie.


'Raayan' directed by Dhanush, stars Dhanush, SJ Suryah, Selvaraghavan, Prakash Raj, Kalidas Jayaram, Sundeep Kishan, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Aparna Balamurali, Dushara Vijayan in lead roles and the music for it is composed by AR Rahman. The film made Rs 43 crore at the box office in three days.
