'Ponniyin Selvan'
Making a film based on Kalki Krishnamoorthy's 'Ponniyin Selvan' novel was Mani Ratnam’s biggest dream and the director has worked hard for over 30 years to make his dream come true. The historic novel has five chapters, which has been made into two parts, and the first part titled 'PS 1' had its grand theatrical release today (Sep 30).

'Asuran'
Dhanush joined hands with director Vetri Maaran for 'Asuran' and the film was based on the novel Vekkai written by Poomani. The film explains about two different shades of a man. Dhanush gave an exceptional performance, and the film turned out to be a huge hit. 'Asuran' was also then remade in Telugu, but the original version remained the best.

'Soorarai Pottru'
Sudha Kongara joined hands with Suriya for 'Soorarai Pottru', the film based on the novel ‘Simply Fly: A Deccan Odyssey’ written by AR Gopinath. The film tracks the life of a writer. Suriya reprised AR Gopinath's role on big screens and his extraordinary performance bagged him the National Award for Best Actor.

'Naan Kadavul'
Bala is one of the directors in Tamil, who follows a unique pattern and his films have a separate fan base. Bala's 'Naan Kadavul' featuring Arya in the lead role is an adaption of the novel Yezhaam Ulagam written by Jeyamohan. The writer penned the dialogues for the film and it was a classic hit.

'Viduthalai'
Vetri Maaran is one of the most successful directors in Tamil cinema and he is next working on the film titled 'Viduthalai'. Soori and Vijay Sethupathi starrer 'Viduthalai' is based on the novel 'Thunaivan' written by Jeyamohan. It's an ambitious project of Vetri Maaran and the director has planned to film the novel in two parts to deliver an extended version on big screens. The shooting of the film is underway, and the film is planned to be released this November.
