Poorna: Playing the title role

Lady Luck seems to be smiling on Poorna, for she’s signed up several films in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam film industries, which revolve around the heroine.
She begins, “Interestingly, I play the title role in most of these films. While I play a strong, courageous village girl in Karuvachi, the plot of Mei Azhagi revolves around the characters of my brother and mine.The film has no hero! I have a strong role in Raghavan’s Vesham as well.”
Talking about Karuvachi, Poorna says, “I appear sans makeup in the film, and I’m paired opposite Akhil (of Kalloori fame). I had gone deglam for Drohi earlier, in which I played a slum girl. But this role is entirely different from other characters that I’ve played before.”
In Tollywood, she’s signed a thriller film — Auvunu. “And in Mollywood, I will be seen playing the title role in the remake of the 1974 hit Chattakaari. I will be reprising actress Lakshmi’s character in the film, and I’m quite excited about it,” she smiles.
