The year 2021 looks packed for
Priya Bhavani Shankar
, with at least four films lined up for release and a few more in various stages of production. Now, the actress has added another film to her kitty — she will be playing one of the leads in
Silambarasan
TR and
Gautham Karthik’s
Pathu Thala
, which is being directed by
Obeli N Krishna
.
“Priya plays a tehsildar in the film. She is a strong, self-made woman, who doesn’t hesitate to take a decision if she feels it is right. It’s a bold character and the arc is quite interesting,” says Krishna, who met the actress two weeks ago and finalised her for the part.
“I needed a typical Tamil ponnu for the character. I’ve seen some of her earlier films and felt that she was very natural and effortless as an actor. I also didn’t want to cast someone who has done something similar before. This role will be a big plus in her career,” says the filmmaker.
While Gautham will team up with Priya in the film, which is an adaptation of Kannada hit Mufti, Simbu’s character doesn’t have a pair in it.
