Priyanka Mohan: The South Korean president remembered me and said, ‘I saw your movie'
Priyanka Mohan was a special invitee to the state banquet at Rashtrapati Bhavan, hosted by the President of India Droupadi Murmu for South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, who was in the country on a three-day visit. The high-profile event, held on April 20, brought together distinguished personalities from politics, arts, and various sectors, highlighting the role of cultural exchange in strengthening India–South Korea relations.
The actress, who was invited following her appearance in the recent Tamil OTT film Made In Korea, calls the experience "unforgettable". Speaking to us during a break from the shoot of her next film, she says, “It was totally unexpected. I was at peace, taking it all in. I've always wondered how Rashtrapati Bhavan would look from inside. To be seated among those dignitaries and have a meal with them felt surreal.”

Priyanka shares that both Lee Jae-myung and his wife, Kim Hea Kyung, had seen Made In Korea and appreciated her work in the film. “I didn’t have an elaborate conversation with them. But when I introduced myself to the South Korean president, he remembered me and said, ‘I saw your movie.’ He and his wife appreciated me and that was a big deal for me. I'll never forget that moment in my life.”
She adds, “When I was doing Made In Korea, I was doing my part, as it was my responsibility to give my best. They say hard work really pays off, but it really did in my case. I didn't expect people to love it so much and for the movie to reach across boundaries. I never thought in my wildest dreams that I'd be at Rashtrapati Bhavan and that the president of another country would watch my film. It was a surreal moment and a splendid evening.”
The actress also had a brief interaction with politician Shashi Tharoor at the banquet. “I randomly bumped into him by the end of the evening. All of us look up to him. He's such a brilliant leader. Though it was short, our conversation was very thoughtful. He was so sweet. And he even tweeted about meeting me! That was very kind of him,” shares the actress.
"I was there for almost four-and-a-half hours, and I cherish every minute of it. Witnessing everything firsthand was so memorable, and it will always be in my heart," she signs off.
