A source informs us, “Swaminathan had tested positive for coronavirus 10 days ago and was admitted to a private hospital. His immunity became very low a couple of days ago and yesterday afternoon, he breathed his last. He was 67. His body has been cremated as per government rules. Though several people in the industry had tested positive for the coronavirus, Swaminathan is the first casualty.”

Swaminathan, who last produced Suraj’s Sakalakala Vallavan, starring Jayam Ravi, Trisha and Anjali in the lead, is survived by his wife and his sons, Ashok (a filmmaker) and Ashwin (actor, of Kumki and Boss Engira Baskaran fame). In fact, Ashwin had tied the knot with Vidyasree on June 24 amidst the coronavirus lockdown, with just a few close relatives and friends in attendance. The source adds, “So far, no other family member has tested positive.”
