The film has been receiving mixed reviews from the audience as the film's story focuses on community, dramatization and an arrogant murder. With Women’s Day approaching, Puducherry Governor Kiran Bedi celebrated womanhood by taking her housekeeping women to watch this controversial film.

Director Mohan's bold attempt at showing the dramatisation of love that happens in real life has been appreciated by some of the audience. Also, some political leaders have applauded the director for the attempt. Earlier, many have suggested that the film is for women, and especially asked daughters to see the film with their fathers. Meanwhile, some set of audiences have been hitting out at the director for creating controversies by portraying a certain group of people in a bad light.
